Lance Mackey Wins 4th Straight Iditarod

NOME -- Lance Mackey won the Iditarod Sled Dog Race this afternoon, becoming the first musher to take four straight.

He posted the second-fastest time ever, a second under 9 days, and earned a check for $50,400 and a new Dodge truck.

I remember a time not long ago, the nation kept an ear to the Iditarod to see who won. I haven't heard a single radio broadcast this year about it. Its one of the last real tests of human and animal endurance that hasn't been completely ruined.

You're right - and Lance Mackey seems to be a real iron man, in that he is able to run for hours when everyone else is needing a nap.

Then again, he's been known to sleep while the dogs keep on going! Happened during last year's race and I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't happen again this year. (Although, like their human counter parts, they tend to slow down when the boss isn't looking.) He's got a great report with those dogs of his and they love him for it.

Thanks for the great coverage Rev! Some day we'll get to join you (in person) for the Iditarod.
