Important Holiday Today

Today is the 305th birthday of Dr. Benjamin Franklin. Printer, writer, publisher, author, inventor (the Franklin stove, swim fins & bifocal glasses, among others), speaker, ambassador, and founder of the nation's first post office, library, and the first fire department and hospital in Philadelphia.

His studies of philosophy and his natural wisdom made for incalculable contributions to colonial society, and played no small role as he attended the Second Continental Congress - from whence came the Declaration of Independence - and later the Constitutional Convention.
