Here We Go Again (Updated)

The Nat'l Weather Service predicts we'll get 9" to 18" more snow, this evening through tomorrow. Using the Ph.D. method, we Pile it Higher and Deeper.

I'm loving that new snow blower more than ever.

Update: according to an article at the local paper's website, we've received double the normal amount of snow for the winter-to-date, and which beats the previous record by four inches. And of course, this is in advance of the snows still to come.

Good thing the Christmas music season is over - you guys probably wouldn't appreciate hearing "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!"

Wow. Its an unusual 57 outside right now here and the rain just stopped.

ProudHillbilly: we really don't mind the snow. It's just such a fascinating thing to us when it comes so heavily - and so quickly.

maddmedic: we'll keep it, no problem. But after the blizzards that hit CONUS last winter, perhaps you should see to getting that 'blower fixed.

Keads: this winter's weather is puzzling. But when those heavy snowstorms went south last year, we barely got our normal amount.

My brother's machine has heated handles.
He love that machine so much that he prays for snow.

Cathy: so he's the one!

I miss snow. Usually between June and September here in San Antonio...

At least I know YOU'RE prepared!

Groundhog: you just want the cold to cancel out the hot. Understood, and agreed.

Guffaw: you betcha. Ice cleats, snow boots, coveralls, parka, snow blower, dual snow shovels (two daughters, wink wink), large & powerful 4WD truck, well-stocked fridge & larder ... yep, we're ready.

Rev. Paul,

So far, the winter has been unusually mild here in Raleigh, but today we are having the typical gale force winds that whip the PolyKahr estate in winter.

Years ago I live in northern Ohio, in the snowbelt. In the winter of '77-'78 we had a real blizzard, that buried cars left on the street until mid March. About that time, there were commercials for Florida Airlines that featured an alligator mascot. The mascot said, in a deep southern accent:

"You ever seen an alligator shovelin' snow? Well, you ain't a gonna!"

I despised that alligator.

Best wishes,
PolyKahr

PolyKahr: I remember the winter of '77-'78. Was living in Missouri then, and still driving the 4WD I brought back from Alaska. Used to cruise the interstate, wondering why all the other trucks were pulled off on the side.

It was a lot of snow, and I can easily understand why you despised the 'gator. :)
