Signs That Summer is Coming

  • Seagulls have returned to Anchorage - this one's pretty certain. The gulls don't care much for snowstorms.
  • Snow geese have returned to Potter March on Anchorage's south side, along Cook Inlet at Turnagain Arm.
  • All of the statewide temps this morning are above zero. It's only two above in Barrow, but that beats the -18 they had a couple of days ago.
  • The streets are dry, rather than under standing pools of black water.
And the most significant sign:
  • This weekend's forecast includes the word "rain", not snow.

We take what we can get, folks.

Didn't it say rain yesterday as well?

Yep I looked and all the snow and blue geese are gone from down here so they must have moved your direction.

Rev. Paul,

All promising signs of Spring finally making it's way to Alaska.
Soon it will be time to get outside and fish, go to the range and plant gardens.
Enjoy your weather!!!

Preppy, we had a rain/snow mix. I was noting the the S-word is missing from the upcoming forecast. Happy happy.

Sandy, very true - and mid-40s is better than mid-30s. :^)

Got any summer adventures planned?

Hi, Shootin' Buddy!

Nothing formal planned yet - just some long drives for sight-seeing purposes. And this weekend, we start shopping for a replacement SUV. :)
