A Common Denominator

I wrote the other day of a fatal plane crash outside of Cantwell, Alaska. The preliminary NTSB report blames it on foul weather, which is the cause of many of the crashes up here.

The air taxi passengers stranded on the Ruth Glacier (on the shoulders of Mt. McKinley) were rescued on the 4th day, as the weather finally cleared.

Weather has been on the minds of most of us in south-central Alaska, as it's been cloudy - and now rainy - since June 22, the day after the solstice. 'Tisn't normally gloomy & grey this time of year ... but it is, this year.

There's a 70 or 80 percent chance of rain today, depending on which forecast one chooses to wish on. When it's socked in like this, our temps don't change much, either. 52 overnight, and 59 for the high. 61 if the sun comes out briefly.

But it's the middle of a long weekend, and there's time for another cup of coffee. Y'all have a great Saturday out there, and thanks for stopping by.

True, Preppy, but it's just that we have so much of it. This is the time of year when it's not supposed to get dark.
