URGENT CALL TO REPENTANCE: All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the Lord. And all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before Thee. For the Kingdom is the Lord’s and He rules among the nations. (Psalm 22:27-28)

It Was 40 Years Ago Today
On this date in 1973, I reported to the Great Lakes Recruit Training Command to begin boot camp.
I can't figure out how it could be so long ago, and yet I'm just as youthful as ever ... :)
Stephen, don't feel bad. I attended A School in Orlando, before they moved it. That area's a subdivision now, which is kind of sad.
Chickenmom, that picture was taken before my time. See their white feet? Navy recruits used to wear white spats that buttoned up about 10". Because of that, the recruits were called "boots", hence boot camp.
Only beat you there by 11 years or so. It does seem like a long time ago but then again only yesterday. But then again it's been 31 years since I retired.

Amazing how that works, isn't it?
Indeed, PH, it's borderline amazing. Heh.
Rev. Paul,
It's so hard to believe how time flies. Thank you for your service.
Thank you, Sandy. I might do some things differently, but I'd do it all again. In a heartbeat.
Ah, now I feel so old. I attended in Orlando, now closed. We called the water tower the doorknob to a world of poop. Congratulations. Nice photo.
OK - I give up. Which row are you in?
I love it. Good for you, Shipmate!

Thanks, NavyOne. I was hoping you'd see this. :)

Richard, 11 years is a significant number, but we served at the same time. Thank you for your service, sir.
Ah, good'ole Great Mistakes... Oh how I miss that place with a passion. well, not that much. Congrats on your milestone. They may still take you back?
That's okay, Senior; I don't miss it enough to want to go back. Thanks anyway. :)
