URGENT CALL TO REPENTANCE: All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the Lord. And all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before Thee. For the Kingdom is the Lord’s and He rules among the nations. (Psalm 22:27-28)

I'm a city boy. When I see a moose, I think of Bullwinkle. A bear - Yogi and Smokey.
Fortunately, I have visited the forests and seen the real thing.
We have black bears here in Appalachia, but those guys look like a whole new level of trouble. Here, the state come and traps trouble bears in a big cage, and hauls them off into the Tennessee mountains where they won't bother people. Somehow I don't see that working with those guys.
Welcome, Harry! The brown bears here in town average between 650 and 800 pounds, and larger on the mountainside above town. They resist relocation, and the Fish & Game attitude is "they were here first, leave 'em alone unless they attack someone."
Chickenmom, um, you're welcome? You know, of course, that those pictures are from previous winters? I promise you that we don't have snow on the ground in July. Heh. :)
Yeah, I know :0) .... just wishful thinking. It's just so darn HOT here! The thermometer say 102 and that's in the shade! I can't imagine what it is like in the city!
Jim, I've lived in Anchorage for 12 years, and haven't had any face-to-face encounters. Not yet, anyway. We've seen a couple, but from a comfortable distance. And the wind chill in Chicago is WAY worse than the actual temps here. We don't get that much wind.

No anthropomorphizing for me! I'm no longer 5.
Thanks!

Nice!
gfa, what's the point of being a grown-up if you can't be immature once in awhile? :)
Thanks, PH!

Ewww. In the words of Doctor Who: "I'm sorry. I'm so, SO sorry."
you all ruined wordless wednesday by typing. poor sports, the lot.
:)
Sorry, Max. Never promised wordless comments, only the post. :)
Good ones, and not a pet in the lot... :-)
Mooses!!!
NFO, you're right - none of these would make good pets. I don't care what the Lower 48 folks think. :)
Chickenmom - and bearses, too!
There's only two reasons I'd feel uncomfortable in Alaska....
1) Winters that make Chicago winters look like Palm Springs
2) The possibility I could step outside for something and come face to face with a bear.
A BIG bear!
Other than that, I'd probably enjoy living there.....

There, I feel better. :)
