Miami, Fla. – Andrew Hayward Smith launched his interactive fundraising journey, Arctic Ride for Dreams, on July 1, 2013. On his journey, Smith will travel from Miami to the Arctic Circle and back, totaling 15,000 miles in 120 days, raising funds for charitable organizations and completing goals along the way in order to bring awareness for various noble causes.
Smith plans to reach Anchorage, AK, on August 8, 2013, via ferry from Canada, and the Arctic Circle on August 15-16, 2013. Smith’s journey ends on November 3, 2013, when he arrives back at Miami Shores Presbyterian Church in Miami, Fla. Smith will complete this entire journey while driving his 865cc, 2007 Triumph Bonneville motorcycle.
Can't believe he's bypassing the Alcan Highway by taking a ferry, but it's still a fairly substantial undertaking. I hope he does well.

Probably heard about Canadian drivers.
That's entirely possible, WSF, but there are so few of them on the Alcan - most of the year - that's it's not an issue.
Still, he might have waited until after Labor Day, when what traffic there is is reduced by half (or more).
Rev. Paul,
He's doing this for a great cause.
I can only imagine how sore he will be when he finally gets to his destination.
Indeed, Sandy. One can only imagine ... and wince, in sympathy.
Wow. Makes my trip to Albuquerque and back seem a little lame. My hat's off to Andrew. I hope he keeps the shiny side up.
The words okole hao come to mind, Six. :)
In 2010 we ran into a couple of guys just outside of Distruction Bay who had biked all the way from Miami to Fairbanks for some kind of event that didn't happen. They were disappointed, thrilled and out of gas. I could do nothing about the first, agreed with the second and gave one guy about a gallon of fuel to get to DB.
Sorry the comment didn't come across as humor (low).
Cool story, joated. Good on ya!
WSF, I took it that way, but am frequently accused of having a sense of humor so dry it's practically arid.
I still think your remark is funny. :)
