The Weekend, So Far

We've finally gotten some rain, with several periods of steady rainfall. We got .63" yesterday, which was a new record amount (have I mentioned that Augusts tend to be dry?).
It was raining fairly hard at 4 am today, too. We both heard it, but neither of us wanted to get up. What a surprise, eh?  It's stopped now, but I think there's more still to come. We've been in such danger of wildfires that no one is complaining about the rain, even though it's been cloudy since the 1st of August, with no end to cloudiness and showers in sight.

Thankfully, there haven't been nearly the number of fires that were expected, although a couple of the fires this year have been large.

The largest of them (so far) is south of Fairbanks, with some 85,000 acres burned. Of course, no one outside of Alaska bothers to notice ours.

Oh well, no matter. We took care of it ourselves, anyway.

Y'all have a wonderful Saturday, and thanks for stopping by.

We've been dry here lately. No worries about fires but my farmer friends are always concerned about too much rain - no, scratch that - too little rain, - no, wait - bugs, yep that's it bugs . . . . but it could be rain . . .

Here along Front Range Colorado, we are in our "Monsoon" season and the moisture is most welcome. The hail and tornados? Not so much.

I hear you, eiaftinfo; grew up in farm country, and the farmers never have a problem finding something to be concerned about.

WSF, BTDT too. Not fun at all.

Wow, that is a lot of fire occurring over there in Fairbanks. You (mainlanders) hear a lot about California fires, nothing about them up in the great white north. Glad to her of the rain. . .

Love your banner and accompanying pixes. Funny thing about rain . . . and so much in life . . .
A little can go a long way. We're a hard species to please.

NavyOne, the establishment's lack of concern about Alaska is exactly our point. It seems (most of the time) they'd be happier if we went away - and you never know ...

Thanks, Cathy. You're exactly right: we're ... fussy.

Even though I am very tired of rain, that is a great rain shot. I know it is really hard to capture the splashes like that. Great job.
