An Open Question

to local newscasters, here in Anchorage.

Yesterday's events in the District of Columbia were evil personified, and there's plenty of tragedy about which you can report.

So why, in the name of all that's holy and good, do we need to hear a report from Alaskan tourists who "discovered they were only miles away from the Navy Yard", and listen to them droning about how bad the traffic was?

Here's a hint, folks: they were not involved ... they. are. not. the. story.  I don't need an "Alaskan connection" to bring the tragedy closer to home - it's plenty bad on it's own.

Meanwhile, how about prayers for the survivors, and their families?

Thanks, Stephen. Sometimes it's nice to know I'm not the only remaining sane person. Well, relatively sane. Heh.

Thanks, gfa.

Rev. Paul,

Prayers said for the victims, there families, my sister's employees/work mates and the other workers in the area when all of this happened in the Navy Yards.

I'm so over the new media.

Thank you, Sandy. I'm right there with you, regarding what is laughingly considered "journalism" in the last 40 or 50 years.

What I find more amazing than the drek called journalism these days is that there are still enough people that pay attention to it for the idiots to still be employed.

PH, agreed. It beggars the imagination, no?
