Sunday Morning Coming Down

It's 42 degrees at the ol' homestead, and Accu-Hunch guesses that's about our high for the day. Rain (mist, drizzle ... it varies) has moved back in, and there's a bit more snow in the mountains above town.

They also predict another windstorm moving in tomorrow night & Tuesday, with 30 to 45 mph winds in town, gusting to 60. As wet as the soil is, that could mean more trees blown down, with resulting power outages. I'm hoping all the vulnerable trees fell during the 80 mph gusts a year ago, because parts of Anchorage were left in the dark for nearly a week that time. Fortunately, that didn't include us (thank You, Lord!).

Younger Daughter & I are heading to a local comic book/geek emporium to see what Doctor Who stuff they might have, that I don't already have. :)  I still don't have a Halloween plan for my office this year, so who knows?

I'd really love to go as Malcolm Reynolds, but don't really want to sink the money into that coat. But it would be ... shiny. Who knows? Maybe I'll find a sale.

Otherwise, I've been checking the air filters & fuel systems on the fleet o' cars in my driveway, to make sure everyone's ready for winter. Younger Daughter's car, being a prime example of that reputed German engineering, is locked down (under the hood) like Fort Knox, and doesn't allow much in the way of owner maintenance. Doesn't even have a dipstick for the tranny fluid; requires a dealer visit. (Grumblegrumblegrumblegrumble...) Ah, well; so it goes.

Older Daughter is at the range this morning with the other Appleseed instructors, enjoying a distance shoot. They have targets set at 100, 200 and 300 yards. She took her .30-06 and the Mosin-Nagant along, so should have some good stories when she gets back.

Y'all have a wonderful, relaxing day out there, and thank you for stopping by.

Rev. Paul,

If the weather turns like this with high winds are you prepared with candles, oil lamps, camping lamps, and something to keep the house warm? I know you mentioned a fireplace recently.

Yes, Sandy, we're prepared. No worries.

NFO, sounds like more layers are necessary. Good luck!
