To Answer A Question

A reader e-mailed to ask about the weight-loss plan which my wife & I have been following since January.

I've lost 44 pounds, and my wife has lost 76 pounds. In my case, I started at 271 pounds, but was down to 227 this morning. Happy camper! We both feel better now than we have in a very long time.

We just had to resize our wedding rings, too. My ring is now a full size smaller, and hers had to be reduced by a size and a half.

She's now one clothing size smaller than when we wed in 1980, and I'm only 7 pounds heavier than on that day.

I guess I missed you mentioning it before, but a hearty congratulations for both of your efforts!
Those numbers are inspiring to even me!

Max, WSF, and gfa, thank you. It's been a long slog, but we're both near the goal now.

Gratz.

Now that I am not working I need to start watching my weight once again. Going from walking some 20 miles a day to piddling around the homestead is beginning to show.

But you didn't answer the question :(

Preppy, the biggest part of the loss was from changing our diets from fried foods, red meat, and various forms of junk food/fast food/desserts.

Now we eat little if any fried foods, sticking mainly to poultry and fish, and have eliminated about 90% of the carbs. It's a relatively-high protein diet.

The rest is working out, to keep the skin from sagging. :)

Rev. Paul,

A big congratulations to both you and your wife. It really makes you feel so much better when you can lose weight.

So you cut back on your foods and eliminated fried foods and red meats?

Both my husband and I need to lose some weight. This will help with arthritis.

Sounds like a plan, Sandy - good luck!

Congrats to both of you! I have trouble getting rid of an extra five pounds...

Rev. Paul said...

Oh, that last five pounds can be very, very stubborn.

Dear Rev.,

WOw. Mommy is jealous. I guess you know where all that weight went? Yup, somehow it transported to N.Idaho and landed on our mom's gut. Is there hope for her??

No worries; this change-of-eating-habits works pretty well for everyone who tries it. Pass that along to your mom, 'kay? :)
