Friday in the Afternoon

Imaginative title, no?

Ah well, let's move on. The warm air moved out earlier than predicted (yay!) and the freezing rain has turned to snow, which is altogether easier to deal with. Roads aren't bad right now, but with the 6" in the forecast for this evening, there could be a few tough hours in the near future.

It's snowing sideways right now, and if the winds persist throughout the oncoming storm (not Doctor Who this time, you Whovians) we'll have a good, old-fashioned blizzard in the making. Woohoo!
At least it's Friday evening, and we won't have to worry about shoveling the driveway in the wee morning hours tomorrow. Coffee first, after all!

The local news is tales of woe from this morning's ice storm, and warnings about the snow. Oh yes, there was also a grocery store robbery in Juneau.

Yes, that's 650 miles from here. But Alaska's a small town, you know. All 587,000 square miles of it. :)

I'm so relieved to be home with no more issues about icy sidewalks, etc, that I'm starting to melt. It's a good time to go put my feet up & lose myself in a book.

Y'all stay safe, and thanks for stopping by.

I hope you get the cooler weather you crave, my friend. And soon.

Glad the day didn't go 'sideways' on y'all...

Wow. Stay safe, yourself!
Been steadily raining here since Thursday, pretty rare.
We need the rain, but neither the storm drains nor the desert drivers are prepared for it.
It's as if it rains, the earthworms come out of the ground and all start driving willy-nilly!

Thanks, NFO - me, too!

Guffaw, all's well here. And I hear you about the lack of storm drains: Anchorage doesn't have 'em, either.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Glad to hear you finally got snow - I've heard it's a badly warm winter.

Wing, the temps have been uneven. We had the warmest October on record, and then November was typically cool, but not real cold. Then last week it went sub-zero, after an ice storm. Then we had the ice yesterday, and it's back up to freezing again - slightly too warm.

Strange weather.
