Long-time readers will recall that I've been driving a small sedan for the last nine months. During that time, we've been socking away loose change & spare "mad money".
Lately, we've noticed that vehicle prices, which shot up sharply this year, are coming back down to semi-reasonable. So we spent the morning, looking at late-model SUVs.
Most are still quite dear, and the dealers seem quite fond of them.
But my ever-alert-to-a-bargain wife saw an ad for one of those little beside-the-road sale or consignment lots. This morning, we found this:
It's an '06 Explorer, for those who keep count. We're an all-Ford family again.
Happy, happy!

Nice looking one too. Since I drive new cars a lot now I must admit I don't much like anything newer than an 09 at all. Except those neat backup screens those are cool.
As far as Ford SUVs go, I'm right there with you. The new ones are ugly.
V6 or V8?
It's the 4.0-liter V6, Jim.
We found a gem down in Fla before we moved a 01 Oldsmobile mini van. Only had 105k on it. We had two Fords before this one.
Pretty low mileage for a van that age; well done, Rob. :)
I'm jealous!
:-)

That's a really clean looking one. Our "Expoder" has 180,000 miles on it. We did add a two year old Escape to the family and the bat truck will get driven til the wheels fall off as its just handy to have that long bed sometime.
Understood, Guffaw. It just takes time.
Brigid, it's in exceptionally good shape, with only 89K miles on it. Re: a pickup truck, when you need one, there's no substitute - and Older Daughter isn't far away.
Rev. Paul,
I was wondering how long it would take you to get another Ford Suv since the accident. Congratulations on your new Explorer!!!
It very nice looking. I have to agree, I don't like the new model 2013/14 Explorers.
Thanks, Sandy - it's been a long time coming. :)
Very nice!
