Bass Pro Shops Opens; Juneau Awaits a Possible Flash Flood

It seems Bass Pro Shops has finally opened its Anchorage store, a couple of days ago. Strange how nobody locally has mentioned it.

Maybe it's because Cabela's stole most of the thunder with its April opening, or maybe its because ... well, whatever. I'm sure we'll get over there eventually; the store is on the opposite end of town, and we don't really go that direction very often. Besides, if Cabela's was any indication, it'll be wall-to-wall people for the first two weeks.

High above Juneau's populous Mendenhall Valley, Suicide Basin is filling with rainwater, snowmelt and ice but is being held back by a dam of the Mendenhall Glacier. The water may soon surge toward town.

Y'all have a great day out there - and thank you for taking the time to stop by.

I hope you're right, NFO; right now, the prices seem to be uniformly high.
