Heller decision, which established federal recognition of Constitutional protection for the individual's right to own firearms, the main thrust of Justice Scalia's write-up of the majority decision is that handguns are the "quintessentialself-defense weapon" of the American people, and can thus, because ofthe Second Amendment, not be legitimately banned.

True enough, Guffaw. I often suspect that the only thing preventing a totalitarian takeover attempt in the U.S. is the fact that we're all armed in the first place.
