about Older Daughter.
I've made multiple mentions of her status as an instructor-in-training with the Revolutionary War Veterans Association, otherwise known as the Appleseed Project. The good folks have taken on themselves the task of teaching American history, along with instruction in marksmanship.
Those who qualify as "rifleman" by scoring a minimum 210 points on the Army's qualification test are eligible to be instructors, if they so desire. There are four levels of training for the instructors, who wear orange hats to show their status. They participate in multiple events, teaching various aspects of firearms instruction, history, et cetera, along the way.
When they finally complete all the phases of training, and pass all the tests, they graduate to "red hat" status as full instructors, now qualified to teach others.
Guess what Older Daughter did, over the weekend? She went from this:
to this:
We are VERY proud of her!
