Okay, That's Done

I just came from the local precinct, and there was a fairly steady stream of voters going in and out. That's encouraging, especially in an off-year election.

There are a few hot-button issues which have local interest up, and that's a good thing.

Let's see ... there's U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative, State Representative, Governor/Lite Governor, a measure to legalize pot, one to raise the minimum wage apart from market consideration, one to require that the State Legislature must approve or deny any mining operation which could potentially endanger the headwaters of spawning grounds ...

Oh yes, and a spate of State Supreme Court/District Court/Appeals Court judges.

Then there's the municipal vote on whether to continue prohibiting Muni employee labor unions from having too much power, thereby tying the city up in negotiations forever and a day. (Yes, that's probably an over-simplification, and I'm sure there will be local readers who take issue with my characterization of it.)

But the VERY BEST THING OF ALL is that there won't be any more political ads for a few days.

At least, not until the 2016 Presidential campaigns begin in 3 ... 2 ...

I am so excited not to have a mailbox stuffed with candidates wanting my vote! Less recycling, win, win.

Hubby and I went early this morning. A heavy turn out for our corner of the woods. People are finally waking up! We didn't get too many flyers, but the phone calls - yikes! I love caller I.D. - I really do....

JMD, I'm with you - no political flyers today!

Chickenmom, heavy turn-out here, too. No phone calls, though.

So glad its done. At lest we can breath somewhat until it all starts up again. Now we just have to listen to the losers cry for a while.

I think the people showed their will yesterday. Whether the people who were elected will follow that will....or show any will at all...remains to be seen. And yeah, I am sick of all the ways they have camouflaged phone calls so I answer them. Ugh.

NFO - sorry. :/

Rob, exactly. I'm already sick of the Dims claiming "we have to work together". Remember President "We Won", anyone?

threecollie, that's always the question, isn't it? I have little-to-no faith in the elected officials. Would LOVE to be surprised, but not going to hold my breath.

Agree totally RP. Good article sums it up here: http://www.redstate.com/2014/11/05/dear-republicans-one-elected-work-democrats/

I'm cautiously (very) optimistic though and I am happier that it turned out this way. At least a lot of people are saying enough.

DPR, thanks. I'm happier this morning, too, but waiting cautiously to see if they can deliver what they promise.
