ANCHORAGE - TUESDAY MORNING UPDATE:

The high wind warning in place for Turnagain Arm and higher elevations has been extended until 1 p.m. Tuesday with the National Weather Service warning of "projectile" debris and hazardous driving conditions within the warning area.

The Weather Service forecasts southeast winds of 30 to 55 mph with gusts of 65 to 75 mph. The winds will likely calm this morning before rising above warning levels again and peaking in the early afternoon, the warning says.

"People are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind," the Weather Service writes.

You're welcome, sir. :)
And we're WAY too warm for this time of year.

I think I will be happy with our forecast for cold temps here (about 40 miles as the crow flies from Rob) because it does not include the words "projectile debris." That's just plain scary.

I hear you, Vicky. It can be unnerving to see larger objects in flight. I wish that was a joke.

Nothing like taking a piece of flying patio furniture upside the head to ruin your day.....

Rev. Paul said...

Absolutely, Rumbear. Not to mention the occasional Volkswagen. Heh.

Renton, WA during a "Pineapple Express" three neighbors had their patio roofs go airborne and land in street. For once I was smart and used hurricane ties from Simpson when we built our patio cover.

Rev. Paul,

We have things flying around all the time throughout the year. Winter.....wind.....Tornadoes!!!

WSF - those ties are worth double their weight in gold.

Sandy - tornadoes are a serious threat in your neck of the woods. We traded tornadoes & floods in the Midwest for Alaska; all we have here is blizzards, earthquakes, volcanoes, and the occasional hurricane-force winds. :)
