I Feel The Earth Move Under My Feet

But at least the sky's not a-tumblin' down. (With apologies to Carole King)

The Alaska Earthquake Information Center’s network of seismometers picked up 40,686 quakes last year in the state and bordering parts of Canada. That is significantly more than the previous high of nearly 32,000 in 2003. In 2013, there were only about 28,000 such events, the center reported.

“We’ve blown away those benchmarks,” said state seismologist Michael West, reached by phone. “There’s never been a year where we identified 40,000 earthquakes in a year.”

"For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows." (Mark 13:8)

I have been wondering lately whether at least some of whats going on in this country is the result of this country (as a whole) and it's attitude towards Israel. The last 6 years the current administration has effectively urinated all over Israel.

Genesis 12:3 RP you may have seen this verse a time or two :)

[God said] "I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” (Genesis 12:3)

I agree with your assessment, Matt. And that verse has been on my sidebar since 2008. :)

Between you guys in Alaska and those in California, there is a whole lot of shaking going on. And the Hula Dancers in Hawaii...Cheesy I know....

joated, understood. I've used that title for 'quake-related posts several times. :)

Rob, we're told that Alaska has more 'quakes every day than the rest of the U.S. combined.

California doesn't have our volcanoes. Heh.

A lot of states are rockin' and rollin', including ones that are well away from the Ring of Fire. They are trying to blame it on fracking, but I'm increasingly dubious.

I hear you, PH. My response is, "It's all going by The Book."

Connecticut has had swarms of quakes. The same kind and size as those in Houston and central Oklahoma that have been blamed on fracking. BUT there is no fracking in COnnecticut.

I'm gonna stick with vertical rebounding after the last ice age. Gaia is still stretching and scratching after losing that heavy weight of ice.

joated, that's been mentioned as a possible source of activity up here, too.

Bro, it'll be ... interesting, indeed. :/

Rev. Paul,

I see you've had all kinds of earthquakes going on. We have too, so has the Dallas area of Texas. I believe that's related to all that fracking.

Sandy, one of the points the article made is that the evidence seems to lead away from fracking as a cause. Many of the swarms seem to be in areas where there's no fracking at all. So it's still up in the air, so to speak.
