49 in Dog Years: a Blogiversary

For what it's worth, I just realized that I carved out this niche seven years ago. A few epic rants, some middlin' preaching, and a lot of nonsense later, it still sputters along.

I'm grateful for you that have come along for parts of the ride, and for the on-line friends who've come my way.

A couple of folks (Brigid and joated) have been here almost since the beginning. In fact, joated was the first person to comment on a post I'd written, and linked to it from his blog. The rest flows from that link.

Fewer still are those with whom I've had the pleasure to meet in real life: one or two very well-known, and three who were Alaska-based bloggers, although two have moved away, and we're the poorer for it.

The rest, as they say, is history. Whether it's a distinguished history is up to you to decide. For my part, I'll keep chipping away at the writer's block, and we'll see where things go.

I mentioned the bloggers whom I've met, few in number primarily because of my remote base of operations. I know the midwestern/Indiana-centric crowd sees a lot of each other, as do folks in the mid-south and along the east coast. Not so much, up here.

But in that vein, I will have the very good fortune to meet with one next month in Hawaii, unless his plans change, and it's my understanding that another will visit us here, later this year.

I'm NOT name-dropping; just quite happy to be able to finally met folks with whom I've corresponded for months or years.

But most importantly, I want to thank you, Gentle Readers, for your daily presence in this little corner of the 'net. I'd have given it up long ago if not for your comments, e-mails, and support.

Thank you, my friends.

Although I am a fairly recent reader, I have enjoyed your blog tremendously. You have given me words to laugh over and words to think about and words to soothe my soul, along with pictures of some of the most beautiful real estate in the land. Thank you, Sir.

You're a breath of fresh (COLD) air... :-) Keep writing and we'll keep reading!

GrizAlaska, thanks. And that's a big part of why I've kept this going.

NFO, again with the cold? You must be a warm-blooded creature, indeed. :)

Very sweet, Rev. Paul. I feel blessed to have wandered over here . . . I guess it was from "Standing Outside Looking In. Hope he's ok.
May you have many more happy years of enriching this interesting place we call blogging.

Rev. Paul,

Congratulations! It's always a pleasure to read your posts.
Speaking of meeting blogger friends, my husband will be doing some work with his company in Anchorage in a couple of months. He also enjoys reading your blog, and mentioned to me if the trip works out, he would love to meet you maybe for coffee or a meal at one of the local restaurants. That is if you're available and interested.

And you have done a wonderful job. I haven't been around the whole time, but I much enjoy reading what you write here and learn a lot from you. Thanks, and keep up the great work...please!

Thanks, Jim.

Thanks, Preppy - I don't know about "seven more", but I'll do what I can. :)

Sandy, thank you. I'd be happy to meet Bulldog Man, if he's up this way. My e-mail is in the "About Me" link on the sidebar.

threecollie, thank you, too. I try to never miss your writing, either, as it reminds me so much of growing up in the Midwest farm country.

Congratulations Rev!

I always look forward to stopping by here. If you can keep it going, I'm in for another seven. At least...

No pressure!

;-)

Thanks, Sarge. My meager scribblings hardly match your current output, but I'm glad you find something of use. :)

Probably found you through Stephen's blog, too. So glad I did! Thank you for your wisdom, faith and humor(and the beautiful photos of a place I can only dream about)!

Chickenmom, finding me via Stephen's blog sounds right. You're welcome, as always. :)
