Fox Island Dinner Cruise, Seward, AK

We decided to take a weekend cruise out of Seward, one fine summer weekend about five years ago. Seward is only a two-hour drive south of Anchorage, and Resurrection Bay is beautiful, so what could go wrong?

We rain into rain about three miles south of home, and it rained from that point on, until we were halfway back home last night. To add insult to the rain-soaking, it was coming down at a good clip in Anchorage as we pulled into town. (grins) Just another day of cool summer weather - and given what we see on the weather map in the Lower 48, we'll take it!

A bit of the "ghost forest" - trees killed when submerged in the salt waters of Turnagain Arm during the 9.2 'quake in 1964

Still on the road (another view)

More of that Alaskan sunshine (ahem)

One view of the Seward marina

The Chugach, our excursion vessel

Underway in the mist, drizzle and fog (attorneys at law?)

Still raining

Fox Island appears from the mist

Arrival at the dining hall

Me, enjoying the fresh air and sunshine ... heh

h/t and thanks to Younger Daughter for the photos

Well, Rev. Paul . . . at least the rain didn't dampen your sense of humor :) Alaska is beautiful - even in the rain.

I see no point in getting upset about a rainy day, Cathy; it's not like anger or sarcasm would change it. :)

We went on a cruise to Alaska almost 4 years ago and it rained the whole time. Only sunshine we had was afterwards for 4 days in Seattle. Go figure.

That looks like a fun and peaceful day. Maybe I will make it to AK one day.

Tewshooz, we had five or six cool, rainy summers in a row. Sorry you didn't get some clear, sunny days.

Senior, it's fantastic. I hope you & Mrs. Senior make it up here sometime.

Rev. Paul,

Even with the rain, you looked as if you enjoyed the cruise. The best part of your weekend, was spending time with your wife.

Sandy, it was a good day. :)
