Blogger Advice Bleg

I admit it: I must have changed something, but I cannot see the menu bar at the top of my own Blogger page, nor the followers' icons on the sidebar. This has been going on for over a month now.

I can see those things just fine on your page ... and on every other Blogger site on-line. Just not on mine.

I've been through the display and view settings multiple times, changed the template, changed the colors. Heck, I even changed the font.

Nothing works. I think it might have something to do with an https: setting, with those things being termed "non-secure", but I don't know for sure. And I don't know how to change settings so that I can access my own menu.

I'm using Firefox 39.0.  Help?

Wish I could help but have no idea. I'm an analog guy in a digital world.

The followers thing on the side is an addon isn't it? You have to go into layout and add it there if I am not mistaken. As for the menu up top I don't know.

Different browser?

Stephen, I've been using PCs since the late '80s, and have tried to stay reasonably current. But this one's got me stymied.

PP, I think the two are related, but I can't figure it out. And the thing is, that it works just fine on my work PC. Just not at home.

Ed, same browser in both locations. :(

If you go into Layout, check the Nav Bar settings to make sure it isn't turned off--it's the very bottom setting--if that is the menu bar you are talking about...

Try a different browser, eh?

Try a different browser and see if it still does it.

But, when I turn off my ad-blocker I can see the bar just fine on your blog. SO, if you have an ad-blocker either turn it off or white-list your blog page in it. If you don't have an ad-block check Firefox's settings for ad-blocking and see if you can whitelist the page. I've not used Firefox in a bit so I'm not sure what the current options are on it for that sort of thing.

20Jeep10 - tried it; didn't help, but thank you.

It's okay, threecollie. No worries.

Ruth, it works fine in the new MS Edge, but Firefox is my designated browser ... for now. And Adblocker's already turned off on the blog. Thank you anyway.

Welcome to the world of finicky browsers! I wish I could help, but, alas...
:-(

Still having problems with mine. I switched to OPERA for the interim.
And still cannot post comments using WP...

Guffaw, thanks. I think. :)

And I hear ya. Like I said, the missing items show up just fine on my work PC, using what I believe to be the identical set-up & browser. Oh, well.

You may have tried this before, but if not, it should help you narrow this down a little.

First run Firefox in Safe Mode. You can do this in a couple of ways. If you are running Windows, Start -> Run then type "firefox -safe-mode". You may also have a shortcut under your start menu Firefox program folder.

Safe mode will let you run Firefox with its default settings. If it works, then you know something is funky with either one of your addons or settings. From there you can run Firefox normally and try to figure out where the problem lies, or you can delete your Firefox profile and start again.

If this doesn't fix it, it may be a problem with this version of Firefox. You can revert to an earlier version with a little effort.

These things can be frustrating. Firefox is my browser too, but not as good as it used to be. I wish there was an alternative.

Alec, it works in safe mode - thank you. Obviously something in the add-ons, so I'll just use it like this for awhile.

Again, many thanks!

Rev Paul,

I've found strange things happen in Blogger the last two weeks, and if I give it a day or so the problem clears up. I think it maybe on Bloggers end.

Several months back I changed from internet explorer to firefox because blogger wasn't recognizing several commands within the blogger. Since moving to firefox I have no issues. The issue started right after I ran updates for my computer system through internet explorer.

Sandy, I hope your Blogger issue gets cleared up.

Glad to help.

P.S. If you get tired of safe mode, you can easily reset Firefox.
