just for fun:

Create Your Own Visited States Map

I'm not as widely-traveled as some, but given enough time and a bit o' wanderlust, one can get around. :)

I haven't been to Oregon, Washington, Maine, Hawaii or Alaska.

Got all the others covered though.

DoninSacto, things can change in a hurry when God tells you to move. :)

Preppy, I seem to recall that you drive for a living, so I'm not surprised.

There are some truly amazing places in this world, sir, and the States have been blessed to have many such places.

I have been in all of the lower 48 plus Hawaii. Alaska is the only one of the fifty I haven't been in. I plan to fix that soon. I have also been in Puerto Rico, Guam, the Canal Zone (when we still owned it), and the US Virgin Islands. So I have most of the territories covered too.

The six states in the far NE can all be done in a day but they are worth staying a bit longer to see the sights.

Michigan is tougher than it looks. Mostly, you go *to* Michigan rather than through it to get some place else. It is, however, worthy of a visit. Outside of Detroit, it is a very nice and friendly place. Well, maybe not in January, but for someone from Alaska even that shouldn't be a problem.

Don't think you'll see all of Alaska in one brief visit, either; it's 587,000 sq. miles, and 95% is off of the road grid. Michigan is one of the places that gets a lot more snow than we do, though. I've got a good Navy buddy that still lives there; need to go see him, one day.
