A couple weeks ago, I posted a highly inadequate iThingy photo of aurora dancing in the skies above Anchorage. It was a lousy photo, but all I had at the time.
Now a MUCH better photo has surfaced, done by someone who knew what they were doing with a timed exposure. Enjoy!

Rev. Paul,
Just amazingly beautiful.
I miss not having a view of the aurora borealis from up north.
Wow. I still remember the one time 50 years ago I saw them over Michigan.
Yep, you CAN read a book by them! :-)
Wow!
Agreed, Sandy.
Ed, they are breathtaking & surreal, especially when really bright. That's when they become audible, too.
NFO, not all the time, but sometimes. When they're that bright, it's just amazing.
That's gorgeous.
It is, Cathy. It's hard to get a feel for how big the display is, from a photograph. But it covered a quarter of the sky, and we've seen it cover the entire sky from horizon to horizon. You can't capture that in a static image.
