The Zombies

have come upon us, but in slower fashion than suspected.

I've been at work for 2 1/2 hours, and have already counted 12 hunched-over, shuffling zombies in the hallways. A couple of these smartphone-infected denizens have tried to walk into me, until I spoke to them, scaring them momentarily out of their descent into the nethersphere.

Make that 13: another one's standing in the hall outside my office door, having come to a complete stop while thumb-texting.

UPDATE: I stopped counting at 35 ... too easy.

Smartphones so you can occupy your hours without having a life.

Or having to interact with, like, actual people. Eww!

The only good thing is: They are outside in the fresh air ...

Only the ones in the picture, Chickenmom. I'm guessing it was taken on a campus, somewhere. Most haven't seen sunlight in quite awhile.

I'm 'fortunate', in that I must pay serious attention how and to where I am walking. Even without a cellphone I might misstep and fall.
Thus, I only interact with my device when seated, not driving, and not when speaking with others.
Guess that makes me old...

Or maybe just old-fashioned. There are worse things.
