TBT: My Favoritest Car EVER

Over the years, I've made occasional mention of the 1968 Dodge Super Bee which I drove in college.
But I'd never found a picture of it.

Until now.

Yes, I was apparently one of the "cool" guys. Fresh out of the Navy, I was four years older than my classmates, and had spending money (thank you, G.I. Bill!).

I bought it for $600 (I know, I know; it is to weep) from the original owner in 1978. Sold a '67 Bronco to raise the cash. Had we only known it would be worth as much as $60K a few years ago, I'd have put the thing in storage or something.

383 Magnum with 440 heads, Carter 4bbl, 4.10 posi rear end, full race package, auto trans, 335 advertised but 400 actual HP ... sigh.

I still miss that car.

Yeah....I've had at least 5 cars that would be worth some serious coin today if I had held on to them.

Oh, well.....they were simply "old cars" in those simpler times, and there's nothing we can do to bring them back.

Maybe....just maybe I got aboard the "Classic Japanese Car" boat before it pulled out.

My Supra has already "increased" in value by about $1500 since I bought it, and that doesn't count the things I've done to it, all of which are reversible, because "original" cars are almost always worth more than restored or modified cars.

Of course, I really don't think I'll sell it anytime soon. It's just too much fun to drive.....

Understood. My Bee was the only one I've had that would be of interest to collectors, now. I think.

I kinda miss my '83 CJ-7, too, but only because it was fun to drive.

If we'd all held on to them, we'd all be wondering why.

That's true, Ed. Which is why I should have kept mine. Heh.
