Hump Day

I read this morning that President-elect Trump has removed Gov. Chris Christie from his transition team. And V.P.-elect Pence has removed all the Christie appointees, mostly lobbyists.

I think Mr. Trump is off to a rip-roaring start. Oh yes, and the U.S. dollar is up in world markets. That will cause the price of things to drop, and make it easier to purchase what we need.

What's not to like?  :)

And have you seen that the national media is filling their diapers over the fact that Mr. Trump had dinner with his family last night? Apparently, he committed the mortal sin of not telling them first.

I'm thinking that "draining the swamp" should include the press corps.

It was 20 degrees on the hillside this morning, and 16 down in the river valley. With a clear sky and that big, bright moon shining, it was lovely ... if a bit frosty.

You may have seen the headline on Drudge or Yahoo! News about a scuzzbucket who ambushed an APD police office, over the weekend. (The officer is recovering from multiple gunshot wounds.)

What you may not have seen is that the officer - and another who arrived just moments later - were able to shoot and kill the suspect. The handgun used has since been linked to five Anchorage killings, including two unsolved double-homicides.

Good shooting, officers - and get well soon, Officer Salao.

And finally, the local NBC affiliate flew a reporter and cameraman out to Adak, to see what's become of the former Naval Station (or Naval Air Station, depending on when you were there). They have an interesting 4 1/2 minute piece here.

A passer by assisted a deputy in Fla yesterday. Folks are now going to step up and take action without fear of BLM attacks for helping.or speaking out

Agreed. We've been pushed until our backs are against the wall, and folks have had enough.

I have to admit to gleefully watching the "drain the swamp" in action. May it continue - full steam ahead. Well played, Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence.

Rev. Paul said...

I concur - it's almost fun to watch. :)

Rev. Paul,

Cleaning house or the swamp started quickly I see.
It's good to hear the police over there were able to shoot the suspect dead.

Brrr.....it's cold there!

Rev. Paul said...

Sandy, the temp's roughly normal, for this time of year. I'm hoping we get a normal winter this time 'round. That would include a spell (a few days to as much as three weeks) where it gets down to -20 or colder at night. Traditionally, that's been in late January or early February.

I was glad to see Chris Christie gone.
Now I wait to see what else Trump will do.

Sad about ADAK. But so go many abandoned bases.

Rev. Paul said...

Linda, I was glad to see him gone, too. For whatever reason, I've never been comfortable with him being on the team. I guess now we know why. And I'm looking forward to more "draining". :)

Re: Adak, I was stationed there from '75 to '77. Makes me sad to see how quickly the extremely harsh weather has made everything deteriorate. You'd think it was from the '40s, instead of the early 2000s.

And like many abandoned bases, vandalism helped the weather. Nature conquers all. And God, of course.

But I do understand what you mean. Not many actually get used to help a community like England AFB was.

Be safe. God bless you all.

Rev. Paul said...

Linda, I don't believe vandalism was (or is) an issue. It was a military base on an uninhabited island 650 miles from the Alaska mainland. There was literally nobody there after the Navy moved out, until they sold it to the Aleuts. Now the 60 people who live there want to turn it into a city again, but haven't been able to attract any industry, although it was home to a cannery 50-some years ago. I remember the abandoned building, falling down already when I was there in the '70s.

Ah. They need to attract tourism. Any buildings still in any condition could be re-purposed perhaps. That is something I would donate to, although it wouldn't be much. Maybe someone could work out a go fund me page...

Thank you for the extra information.

I wonder, Reverend, if the how the media functions and is perceived will be changed. I noted that a number of the "major" social networks are banning fringe news - by their own definition of fringe. I suspect we will see them continue to become irrelevant to the exchange of information over time.

Rev. Paul said...

I strongly suspect that you're correct. With Fox News having recently fallen under the "progressive" disease, it's going to be more difficult to find truly conservative news. And of course, that's leading us to the 'net. Broadcast/cable TV news is now largely untrustworthy.

We see Trump following through on his promises. The media is reporting Trump's team is in "disarray".

Rev. Paul said...

Entirely as expected, WSF. The truth is not in them.

I love the fact that he decided to have a nice dinner with his family without the press there snapping photos and running their mouth. I am sure he bought his secret service detail dinner as well. Yes, the dollar has been at a 14 year high, I like that too. I know it's too early to tell, but I really wish him well on his journey that he is about to take. Hey, it cant be worse than the last 8 years right?

Still praying for Our Lord to give Mr. Trump strength and guidance.....he's going to need it.

I think he's truly sincere in his love for America.

And Adak....wow....doesn't take long for Mother Nature to reclaim that which man built!

the most important thing to do is to keep praying
for mr. trump and all government.
have been asking God for decades to put His men into government, and to neutralize the devil's minions.
this nation has not been praying enough. tv and all those electronic devices are a boon to the devil as they are so distracting.
praying for angels to surround God's men and deflect the arrows of the evil one's forces--one third of the host of heaven--that's a lot.

Rev. Paul said...

Senior, I'm with you. The Dimocrits are aghast at Trump's demeanor and attitude, and we're loving every minute of it.

Jim - he's going to need all our prayers, every day. It's a monumental task that he wants to tackle, and I believe he can do it, with God's help. Alone? Not a thing.

Deborah, that's exactly right. We don't pray enough, but it appears that American Christians have finally awakened from their long slumber. Let's also pray that they remain awake, and praying.
