Sunday Scenery

Girdwood, Alaska - about 40 miles ESE of Anchorage, on the Turnagain Arm of Cook Inlet. Fantastic skiing and home of the Alyeska Resort.

Beautiful place and some interesting history. Only North American ski resort with both mountain and ocean views. I visited briefly on a business trip years ago.

Terry, there would be some Alaskans who would argue that the Turnagain Arm is a long way from the Pacific, but I always remind them that the water is all connected. Pacific Ocean water is Pacific Ocean. Cool stuff, and thank you.

Rev. Paul,

Great place to fish I bet.

Sandy, that's salt water. Salmon are abundant, in season, along with many other species. Just watch out for the Beluga & Minck whales, and the orcas (all in summer, of course).
