Beating Back the Forest

Several hours of cutting down small trees and more of the overgrown hedge/brush in the back yard yesterday. More of that, plus three hours of raking, bagging, and running two weedeaters today. That's the back yard, back more-or-less under control from the forest which always threatens to overrun us.

The portion of the front yard which has grass is next. That's about a quarter-acre, give or take.

Those are the oversize "contractors' yard waste" bags, plus a LOT of brush,
laid on its sides.

I can see we'll be fighting weeds all summer long, something we didn't worry too much about in Long Beach because nothing would grow there!

Mother Nature is in the driver's seat here, and it takes some getting used to...

I would let it over grow. Saves time. Just cut the grass,,,,LOL

Well done sir. My father is hard at work mowing grass and cutting the winter kill trees back at home.

Mother Nature never gives up. But you have a good start there! Congratulations. :)

Jim, if weeds were our only problem, I'd consider that a blessing. :)

Rob, I understand the sentiment, but just can't do it. I want every available amount of daylight we can get into this backyard. It was completely grown over & dark when we bought the place.

TB, thank you.

Thanks, Linda.
