God's Word for Monday, 7/9/18

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Ephesians 3:20-21 KJV

God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us. Glory to God in the church! Glory to God in the Messiah, in Jesus! Glory down all the generations! Glory through all millennia! Oh, yes!
Ephesians 3:20-21 MSG

I really do like The Message Bible; but it does annoy me that he used Oh, Yes! instead of Amen!

But I do understand that the purpose was to get people reading and praying again. For that it is a real blessing.

Thank you, Reverend! :)

Linda, I agree - that bothered me a bit, too. But the thing about The Message is, that it's an "intelligent paraphrase". It's how the preacher might express & explain a verse from the King James, in modern English, for a modern congregation. And that's why I've started quoting both translations. Sort of a "here's what it says, and here's what it means to us, today" thing.

I appreciate the juxtaposition of the two versions. I think it's interesting.
