God's Word for Tuesday, 11/13/18

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Philippians 4:8-9 KJV

Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.

Philippians 4:8-9 MSG

Reverend, you keep finding the verses about what Christians are supposed to be doing - yet strangely enough, it seems like so many Christians are not doing them.

TB, I have a choice, every day. I can point out that the majority of American Christians fall so short of the mark ... or admit that I'm one of them, and encourage them as best I can to try again. So I choose encouragement, and giving reminders, and did I mention encouragement? :)
