... to transition from nights back to days. Yesterday, I slept until 1600 hrs, went to work at midnight, and got off at 0830.
So here I am, nearly 90 minutes later, working on my third cup of coffee and deciding to stay up. I hate sleeping through a Saturday, even now.
Will I need a nap this afternoon? Inevitably. Will it be "enough sleep"?
Nah.
OH, boy...midnight shift! The first time I did it, I'd get off work Friday morning and stay up all day. Saturday was still Saturday, but Sunday was a grind, tried to nap a bit, but from Sunday night through Monday morning was a drag.
ReplyDeleteThe last time I worked midnights I'd crash as soon as I got home and try to get up in time.
I hear you. My biggest hurdle is that I only work three nights per week.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a huge hurdle. I am a creature of regularity.
ReplyDeleteIf you can drink coffee at work, no problem. I didn't drink coffee until I got my first mid shift. Helped a lot!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it is getting better for you, Reverend. God bless.
TB - most of us are such creatures. I don't work the same three nights from one week to the next, so adjusting my schedule rapidly is key - and we think we've got it figured out. Mostly, anyway.
ReplyDeleteLinda - I lived on coffee the first two nights, but lately not so much. Thanks.
Blackout curtains and earmuffs.
ReplyDeleteSince it's Alaska, just about everyone already has blackout curtains - including us. The earmuffs aren't necessary. :)
