Postcard from the Trail

Thank you to all the folks who left comments or sent e-mails about our anniversary.

The weekend was sunny, clear, and warmer than normal, although only residents complained. The tourists loved it, so I'm glad they had a good time.

To paraphrase Robert Frost, two paths diverged in the woods, and I took the one less traveled by, which resulted in pictures like the one included here. More pics to come, later.

Bear attacks are on the increase lately. I know the shooting of a griz in Denali National Park got national attention. Here are couple more bear stories from this morning's fish wrapper:

Dog intervenes in grizzly attack, but bear is eventually shot

A longtime Alaskan says his dog probably saved his wife's life after a young grizzly bear charged her Sunday night by their home in the Eagle River canyon, near the nature center.

Wasilla guide killed during bear hunt near Wrangell

A hunting guide from Wasilla was shot and killed late Sunday during a guided brown bear hunt near Wrangell, Alaska State Troopers said in a press release Monday night.

That's all for this morning, as I ease back into the routine. Thanks for stopping by.
