Had to go check the place out, now that the huge crowds have thinned a bit. |
These fellows greet you when you walk in. |
This is the main aisle when you enter, looking straight back. |
The camping section, on the right. |
Looking left ... |
... and looking right. |
They have a few camping supplies. |
Ditto. |
Musk oxen watch while you shop ... |
and a Piper J-3 (I think) floatplane comes in for a landing over the bears. |
A few Dall sheep straddle the aquariums. |
The archery section heads back to the wall o' rifles. |
Mountain goats are watching, too. |
The hunting section takes up about 1/4 of the store. |
This is where they keep the spendiest antique & collectible firearms. |
Another view of the Piper. |
See? I told you: $17K. |
Another aisle, under the watchful gaze of some polar bears. |
The Flat Top Cafe (named after the nearby mountain of the same name) with some really good noms. |
And one small section of the reloading supplies. |

ANy primers?
Yep, large and small.
Cabela's is better than a county fair. Better than two county fairs!
Oh boy! Another one to visit!
threecollie, you betcha!
joated, now there's another reason to come back.
I'm jealous REV. There is a new Cabelas planned for Charlotte, i can't wait.
My stepson is taking me to Cabella's when we go visit him this summer.
He claims I'll like it.......
It's worth the wait, Senior, unless you can get to another one before then. :)
drjim, I suspect your stepson is right. Heh.
Rev Paul,
Please tell me you didn't just go window shop??
We have a Bass Pro Shop in Oklahoma City. The last time BDM and I went there we bought two really nice fishing rods and reel sets originally priced at $55.00each,and we got each of them for $19.99 for catching bass and crappie. Every now and then Bass has some really good sale, that's when we shop there.
Enjoy the store!!
Sandy, I wasn't looking for anything in particular; just wanted to see the place. By the way, our Bass Pro Shop opens later this summer. :)
Looks very much like the one down in Texas. I wonder when they'll finally finish the one in the next town over. :)
Hard to say, Teresa. But it's the only one in Alaska, and "the next town over" from here is 1400 miles away.
How much for the Cub? Do they deliver?
There wasn't a tag on it, so I'm not sure about the price. But given its location in the store, the re-stocking fee would be a bit spendy. :)
That is SO cool! I love the cub! :)
Hi, stranger! I thought you might like the plane; funny how that works. :)
