ANCHORAGE - Alaska State Troopers say an Anchor Point man who shot himself during gunplay spent five days with a “serious but not life-threatening” head wound before visiting a hospital, treating it with supplies at hand.
... "Investigation revealed (the man) had shot himself in the head on (Saturday) while negligently handling a firearm,” troopers wrote. “(He) did not seek medical attention until (Thursday).
In an email to Channel 2 Thursday night, AST spokesperson Beth Ipsen says the investigating trooper reported that the weapon involved was a .22 long rifle.
... According to Ipsen, it’s not clear whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident, but the trooper took note of the man’s medical regimen.
“No treatment before today other than he put Neosporin on the wounds,” Ipsen wrote.
Okay, then.

Wow, sometimes you just can't make that stuff up.
Priorities. Obviously a busy man, and he probably thought it to be not much more than a bad scratch.
Hard headed, in more than one way... sigh
JMD - truth is stranger than fiction.
WSF - I guess so. Obviously he didn't think it was a big deal.
NFO - I reckon you're right. Just ... wow.
And I've got people that say .22 is fine for self defense.
Brigid - it's all about shot placement. :)
I know a few folks where a through-and-through head wound with a .22 wouldn't hardly do any damage at all. Bless their little hearts.
Ah, yes, joated: good Progressives all.
I should probably apologize for that.
