God's Word for Monday, 5/21/18

I have a serious concern to bring up with you, my friends, using the authority of Jesus, our Master. I’ll put it as urgently as I can: You must get along with each other. You must learn to be considerate of one another, cultivating a life in common.
1 Corinthians 1:10 (MSG)

Some days I think the reason why there is so much discord around is the entire "me generation" attitude that has been growing and expanding over the past 20-30 years. Add in a 24/7/365 news cycle where "something" needs to be put on the tube, a decline in folks going to church, Madison Ave always trying to sell us on the next, biggest, newest, more expensive electronic widget, and the deep need for instant gratification, and everything seems to go downhill pretty fast.

The basic family unit seems to have taken a pretty stiff beating.

At home, church and school was where my generation was taught "the rules of civilization", like "The Golden Rule", courtesy, and respect for others. Or at least to smile and hold your tongue if you can't say anything nice. (I just channeled Mom)

I know this doesn't apply to everyone, I know that generalizations are waaay too easy, but, boy, some days!!!

I think if Jesus came back today or tomorrow, he would be extremely disappointed in all that is going on in this country these days...

Maybe I'm just extra cynical due to all the chilly rain we still have going on. It is the end of MAY and we are still running the woodstove!!

Suz, I pretty much agree with everything you wrote, except that Jesus already knows what's going on. The astonishly remarkable thing is, He still loves us!
