God's Word for Saturday, 5/19/18

Real wisdom, God’s wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced. You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor.
James 3:17-18 MSG

p.s. All y'all discuss this amongst yourselves; we're heading out to buy carpet for the family room.

Oddly enough, I find the treating others with dignity and to be missing amongst large swaths of the population - including, sadly, the church.

"In the last days ... the love of many shall wax cold", Paul said. Indeed, it has.

"Hard work" of getting along with everyone else...that right there is the give-away. Many folks these days are not at all interested in "hard work" of any kind, never mind that which can be involved with making a relationship work.

Not to mention understanding words like dignity and honor.
Those virtues, along with reasonableness are not in most folks vocabulary.

I don't care if they disagree with me, that's fine, just agree to disagree and move on to what we do agree on...I'm betting there is something we can agree on. Quit trying to beat me like a rented mule into doing/seeing/following only their way. It wont work, because all that makes me do is dig my heels in and get stubborn...like a rented mule. :)

Suz, it seems that "compromise" no longer has a definition, these days. Opinions have become so polarized that there's no longer a middle in which to meet.
