- a half-dozen eruptions from Mt. Redoubt
- 1/8" of ash fell here in south Anchorage (see the previous post)
- an earthquake on Sunday afternoon
The winds this morning appear headed directly at Anchorage, from the direction of the volcano. If there's another eruption, we'll get the ash in two hours' time.
The people who depend on me have settled down, and aren't calling every 15 minutes anymore. They've figured out that I'll call them if they need to take any action regarding additional ash fall.
Change of subject: There is an actual, honest-to-goodness law-and-order, fiscal conservative candidate running for mayor. I know the guy, and rented his campaign HQ to him, at my last job. I hope he wins, next month.
We got three or four inches of snow, overnight. I haven't been out to get a close look, yet, but it seems to still be snowing. That will encapsulate the ash & grit between layers of snow, but only postpones the dust clouds that will be blowing around once the snow melts in another few weeks. Yay.
It would be a good time (at, say, the end of April) for a Midwestern gully-washer, but alas! it doesn't rain nearly that hard in Anchorage.
Well, y'all have a great day, and we'll chat again soon.

Yikes Rev., I'm away for a few days and look what happens! That's weird how the snow only postpones the inevitable ash blowing all over.
Sure hope your conservative mayoral candidate wins.I stumbled upon a FAR Left blog this morning and wow are those folks filled with acid! I mean down right hateful about anyone who isn't them! Scarey.
Welcome back, Cassie! Nice to hear from you again. Unfortunately, the ash isn't going anywhere. And there is still ash left over from the last round of eruptions (Mt. Redoubt and Mt. Spurr) from 20 & 17 years ago, respectively. (sigh)
