God's Word for Friday, 12/15/17

But the angel reassured her, saying, “Do not yield to your fear, Mary, for the Lord has found delight in you and has chosen to surprise you with a wonderful gift. You will become pregnant with a baby boy, and you are to name him Jesus. He will be supreme and will be known as the Son of the Highest. And the Lord God will enthrone him as King on his ancestor David’s throne. He will reign as King of Israel forever, and his reign will have no limit.”
Luke 1:30-33 TPT

Every time I read this, all I can think of is how Mary must have felt. Scared and pretty upset. In that day and age, as a betrothed to Joseph...not like the casual way unwed pregnancies' are treated today.
And then, having to go around for 9 months, saying it was God's baby. No wonder she went to visit Elizabeth for a while.

Linda & Jim, thank you.

TB - good one! :)

Suz, I don't know if she was scared per se, because of the words from Gabriel - but I bet she was plenty apprehensive. It wasn't exactly uncommon for a betrothed to be pregnant, in that time and place, but was considered something that decent people didn't do. And I agree, going to visit her cousin would have been a good way to get away from those looking down their noses.
