God's Word for Sunday, 7/8/18

I kneel in worship facing your holy temple and say it again: “Thank you!” Thank you for your love, thank you for your faithfulness; Most holy is your name, most holy is your Word.
Psalm 138:2 MSG

I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
Psalm 138:2 KJV

This makes me think of the Muslims praying to Mecca. I wonder if they are thanking God...

This makes wonder sometimes about how Christianity is practices in parts of America: we value His lovingkindness above His Truth (because truth hurts) when we should be valuing both equally.

Rev. Paul said...

Linda, they are praying to Allah, which is not the same thing.

TB, most Christians don't want to hear the truth, just as you said.

The Christians not listening, is noted throughout the New Testament. Though there, I think they are mostly talking about the chosen Jewish people.
But it applies to all, for sure.

What is truth?

Rev. Paul said...

Sadly, Linda, you're probably right.

Ed, exactly right. The world evinces the same cavalier attitude toward any assertion of an absolute truth as that expressed by Pontius Pilate in John 18:38. It's our job to lay it out there, just the same. What the world chooses to do with the information is their responsibility. (And yes, I know you already know that.)
