Last fall, Accu-Hunch went on record as saying they had no idea whatsoever what we might expect in terms of winter weather.
So, Alaska has been anything but warm. The recent cold snap in Anchorage brought 11 straight days of double-digit negative temperatures to town -- while 2008 as a whole in Anchorage ranked as the coldest year in a decade.
We had a chilly summer in 2008. From May through August last year, Anchorage recorded its lowest average daily temperature in 25 years.
The cold spell over the last three weeks is likely to be repeated, they say. We haven't had a warm summer since 2004, but "they" also predict warmer-than-normal temps by June.
Since these are the same folks who can't accurately predict what the weather will be in 48 hours, I'm not going to worry about June.

Aah, but what does the OFA (Old Farmer's Almanac) have to say about next June?
OFA says we'll be slightly cooler than normal, with showers. So I guess we'll see; based on the last four summers, OFA sounds more likely than Accu-Hunch.
But then, who doesn't?
