"State House Unanimously Passes Anti-Gun-Licensing Bill"

The Alaska State House [on Feb. 25] called on Congress to reject a measure that would require anyone who has a gun to have a federal license to possess it. "On a unanimous vote, state representatives approved House Joint Resolution (HJR) 17, legislation by Rep. John Harris that would oppose a bill in Congress (HR 45) that the Valdez Republican says would diminish the right to keep and bear arms."

The Constitution of the State of Alaska
Article 1, § 19. Right to Keep and Bear Arms
"A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The individual right to keep and bear arms shall not be denied or infringed by the State or a political subdivision of the State."
