It has been snowing lightly all night, with not much accumulation. It snowed most of the day yesterday, too, but with the temperature hovering around 35, that mostly melted. It did stick to rooftops and tree branches. The spruce trees look like they've been frosted with white Christmas icing.
Mt. Redoubt erupted three more times, at 19:30, 23:20, and 01:20 overnight. The ash clouds are between 40k and 50k feet, but the prevailing winds are out of the south.
It does appear that the stream at 30k feet will be blowing directly across Anchorage from SW to NE, later today, so once again there is the threat of ashfall. At least we have snow on the ground to catch it when it lands. It won't be blowing and swirling on the ground; that means we can still drive, let the furnace run, etc. Furnaces are good things, this time of year.
I've decided that I have no plans for the day; I did download Brigid's apple cinnamon roll recipe - when I told the family what she'd written about today, everyone started drooling. Her recipes have become an important addition to our "special" meal plans.

I stopped by Wally World, earlier this week, looking for ammo. On Tuesday night, they had NO centerfire ammo of any kind. NONE.
On Wednesday, their shelves were still nearly bare. They had a couple bricks of .223, several boxes of 7mm Remington mag, some .22 birdshot shells, and some 8mm rounds. That was all. Shotgun shells seem to be plentiful, but the centerfire stuff ... not so much.
While I was there, another shopper told me he'd just come from the Sportsman's Warehouse across the street, and they had none at all.
I will have to bite the bullet (pardon the horrible pun) and shop at the smaller gun stores. They still have some ammo - and there are about 50 gun shops across Anchorage. I'll find some, somewhere, but it's hard to tell how much I'll have to spend.
Update: This morning we went to Fred Meyer, which is a Kroger store. They had little centerfire ammo, but quite a lot of shotgun loads (sounds familiar).
More importantly, though, is that they have GUNS. I looked over their selection - and while limited, they're as much as $200 cheaper than Wally World! I think I'm going back there for a long gun. The clerk also told me they're due for a fresh shipment of ammo tomorrow, if the planes can get in. Dang ash clouds still have the airports shut down.

Last night is the first time since last Saturday that I've gotten more than five hours of sleep, and my body doesn't quite know how to handle it.
Maybe another cup of coffee ... yeah, that's the ticket.

Thanks for keeping us posted about the volcano. Ammo is the same everywhere, hard to find and expensive.
You're welcome! Regarding ammo, when I find what I want, I'm so happy at the discovery that I almost don't mind the price. Almost.
