TGIF - Bits & Pieces

Good morning! Friday seemed a long time coming, this week, although I can't point to any particular reason.

My dad turned 80 yesterday, and we made a group phone call to him. He's in good spirits, and is "in good shape for the shape he's in," to use his favorite phrase. My mom is mostly recovered from her stroke (happened on her birthday, in December). She still has some lower back pain & can't stand for long, but the therapists are working on that.

UPDATE: Deedee reminded me to report that my wife's first week on her new job has gone quite well. She seems to have hit the ground running, and has only good things to report.

There's not much else to relate, this morning. I suppose that's a good thing. Mindful of the old Chinese curse ("May you live in interesting times") I think that not having any major events to reflect upon is a good thing.

If you haven't yet read Brigid's post on her experiences as a flight student, and later an instructor, please do. She has a marvelous, God-given gift for taking you with her into a memory, with the sights, sounds, and feel of a time and place. I've so rarely felt as if I were sitting next to the narrator, and she makes it seem easy. If I could write something half as good as that, well then I'd believe I'd done something good.

You all have a great day!

Let us all know too, how your wife's first week at work went.

Done - thanks. I had put comments about her job in my first draft, moved them while adding something else ... and never put them back. My bad!

I did pop over to Bigid's post and it does sound like a good tale but I'm going to save it to read to Dirt who would understand it better than I. Thanks for the heads up on a good place to visit.

DR - Thank you on both counts.

Lanny - Brigid's writing is excellent, and her recipes are just as good.
