This day did not begin auspiciously. The neighbors dropped a Volkswagon or something similar in size and weight, which woke me up at 12:30 a.m. I couldn't get back to sleep right away, because the daylight coming in around the bedroom blinds was too bright (yeah, it's that time of year in Alaska - eat your hearts out!)
So I got up and finished the novel I was re-reading, and got back to bed at 1:45. At 2:00, I could hear someone giving various hand tools a drop-test in a nearby parking lot. One tool every two or three minutes. For over an hour. Yay.
So at 3:00, I finally fell asleep, and the 5 o'clock alarm did ring (apologies to Davey Jones & The Monkees).

Work went fairly smoothly, except that the magnetic card readers on my building don't talk to the new motherboard which regulates the maglock & digital keypads. So once the doors lock at 6 p.m., no one's getting back in that sucker until Tuesday morning. Except me - since I have the master key and the only functioning card - if some tenant decides they need a widget they left in their desk, in the meantime.

AccuHunch Weather had previously guessed we'll have a cool, dry summer. Although the summer has barely started, their guess is ... so far ... surprisingly accurate. It's been sunny with highs in the upper 50s and low 60s, with a fair amount of breeze lately. How that translates is, in the sun you're warm ... in the shade, you're looking to get out of the wind.

For everyone who stumbles across this little bit of prose, remember our fallen sons and daughters, and everyone who served this country in the armed forces. We owe them all more than most will ever realize.
Have a happy, relaxing, and safe weekend!

Chores are done, words put to paper and I'm putting up a recipe for chocolate eclairs that I made for work on the sidebar. I bet your daughter would find that an enjoyable challenge.
THAT did it - she's now looking over my shoulder, begging me to go to your site for the recipe! Okay, off we go.
