Hump Day Odds & Ends

* We've recovered from our little 'quake this morning, although it did invoke some comments at the time. Most of them were, "Whee! Again, again!" (This, from long-time Alaskans, who know that a measly 5.0 is nothing to worry about. Not too much, anyway.)

* The sun came out again today, and we made it to 62 degrees - about 3 degrees higher than forecast. It sure is nice to see some blue in that sky.

* The summer is still with us, in spite of several trees turning yellow already. No leaves are falling - yet - and I'm hoping they don't start too soon. That's wishful thinking, though.

* The trolls - Internet, MSM, and failing newspapers - are still bashing Sarah Palin. The woman just nettles them to no end. Darn the bad luck!

* I've been inquiring about why I've seen fewer moose this year, and discovered that the wolf population has been increasing rapidly. More wolves = fewer moose. Next step will be an expanded wolf hunt in Alaska. That oughta make the enviro-weenies have a collective stroke.

They always want to protect the poor little wolves - and other critters du jour - from the ravages of mean old mankind, but you never hear them take the side of the moose calves that are eaten for lunch by wolves and bears.

"That's just nature," they say. Then what? Mankind isn't part of nature? How can we be apart from nature? There are a LOT of folks who live off the land up here ... the D.C.-based feel-good groupies need to mind their own business & stay on the East Coast, where they're apparently welcome.

Perhaps they need to be reminded of one of our more popular bumper stickers up here: "If it's called tourist season, how come we can't shoot them?"

Just kidding.

I think.

* YD is fixing another wonderful dinner, and it's starting to smell mighty good. I think I'll go see how close it is to "ready".

UPDATE: it's teriyaki-marinated chicken with asian rice pilaf.

So, it seems you've been rearing a chef! I get hungry every time you post what the YD is making for dinner. It all sounds scrumpcious.

Rev. Paul,

If you are going to keep displaying pictures of such delicious meals I think it only fair that you put some on dry ice and mail it to the lower 48;-)

DR, it's not the same if it's been frozen. Sorry, but you'll have to come up here.

(hint, hint)
