Wet Wednesday

Good morning! It's cloudy, foggy, rainy and 55 degrees this morning. That's been the story in southcentral Alaska for several days now, but the Interior is another story altogether.

As I mentioned before, they've just concluded the driest July on record, and there's still no relief in sight. The wildfires around the Fairbanks area are getting bigger, expanding by "tens of thousands of acres" daily, according to a story in today's Daily News. The largest fire is now over 856,000 acres, and growing. Over 2 million acres have burned, so far. You probably won't see that on the national news - they used to simply ignore Alaska because we're so far away; now they hate Alaska because of Sarah Palin. But you can read the story here. (Just a public service provided by your friendly neighborhood Reverend!)

The air quality in Fairbanks is "very unhealthy" and officials are asking people to remain indoors if at all possible. Resources are getting low, and the fire crews are short-handed, although more teams from the southwest U.S. are expected soon.

The Palin Derangement Syndrome goes on, as leftwing moonbats continue to bash Sarah non-stop, in spite of the fact that she's made only one semi-public appearance since leaving office. She and her family are taking some well-earned personal time. There are a number of pro-Palin blogs out there, so I won't try to repeat what they're already doing, and better.

That's about it for this morning. Thanks for stopping by!

Sure hate to hear that! Used to go up river to near the Crazy Mountain area on Moose hunts...and some fishing. Beautiful country

But wild fires are a part of nature...and sometimes instead of putting them out containment is the best solution. Only problem in the interior is that it will take 200 or more years for the trees to grow back...

I checked the Smokejumpers website.
Probably over half the Smokejumpers in the country are in Alaska now as boosters on this bust. I don't think they're shedding any tears. Overtime....overtime....more overtime.
