Another Friday Grab-bag o' Stuff

It's currently 6 degrees at my place, and low-lying clouds seem to be rolling in. The weather-wonks at AccuHunch say it will slowly begin a warming trend, and there's a chance of snow for the next several days. Even a few inches would be nice; the ground is certainly cold enough, after a week of subzero lows & single-digit highs.

Local news is filled with details of the city's budget struggles, accusations and counter-accusations about whether the previous mayor told the Assembly there would be a severe shortfall. It grows tiresome; instead of pointing fingers, and trying to affix the blame, couldn't we just work on the budget? Please?

In an update to my previous post, it appears the Postal Service will let volunteers answer letters to Santa in North Pole, Alaska, after all. The USPS had previously suspended that program due to security concerns, citing an incident on the East Coast. Gee, cancel Christmas because some numbskull 4,400 miles away did something bad. The Grinch, it appears, is alive and well, but was forced to retreat. Just another case of the bureaucracy talking down to the "little people."

But woe unto the bureaucrats when the "little people" get together and start talking back. I have a feeling it won't be pretty, if/when that dam finally bursts.

That's enough of that. As I said yesterday, I've had too much politics and too little restoration of soul.

I hope you have a great and restful weekend - thanks for stopping by.

I heard that about the Santa letters on the radio the other day and couldn't believe it. What next? Taking the Nativity scenes off courthouse lawns. Oh, wait, they've already done that.
