Mid-Week Odds & Ends

Let's-Talk-About-the-Weather Dept: The temperature made it into double-digits this afternoon. It's 12 degrees at the airport, and 10.8 at my house. As I mentioned in my previous post, we're to approach -10 tonight, so the progress toward 'normal' temps is slow.

At-the-Boiling-Point Dept: As I made my usual rounds today, I wandered into several political discussions. Most were conservative, some were not, but all had a central topic in common. You can probably guess what it is. And people are much angrier than I thought; surprisingly so.

* * * * *
Things-That-Go-Bump-in-the-Night Dept: The wedding at my Missouri friend's farm apparently went well. The young'uns got properly hitched, and all the relatives, in-laws, and out-laws have departed. He's more concerned now about the mountain lions which have been taking local deer, and spooking his horses.

Smart fella, though - keeps a loaded rifle by the door, and hits the floodlights as he steps out of his house. He's heard one or more big cats nearby, but hasn't seen them on his land yet - only tracks.

Thanks for stopping by - have a great evening!

If I can find some pics I'll send them to you of a mountain lion attack on a horse here last year. Horse lived but suffered MAJOR damage to its hind quarters. Probably a stop foot and a half in diameter and 3 inches deep.

Mountain lions in Missouri? Inconceivable!

(The COs in PA and NY are all trained to say the cats are not present in the vast north woods. Wink. Wink.)

Hope you get him. Shoot straight.
